Harry Reid has asserted that the stories of Americans who lost coverage, or had to pay more, or had to find new doctors under the Affordable Care Act are all lies. Even for Harry Reid, that’s absolutely preposterous. No one has lost coverage, had to pay more or find new doctors under Obamacare? Really?

Harry, it’s been amazingly well documented, even by your allies in the media.

The group Americans For Prosperity, an organization that receives some of their funding from the Charles and David Koch brothers, has been running ads with people adversely affected by Obamacare. By the way, according to Harry Reid, the Koch brothers are apparently evil incarnate for spending money on political ads, but George Soros is a hero. So is Warren Buffet. AFP is a horrific organization, but the Labor Unions, the Tides Foundation and the Center For American Progress are perfect. Just a quick reminder.


Anyway, from the Senate floor, Reid called all of the ads that are being run, lies. Every one of the ads that AFP had run, were lies? Obviously then, not just the Koch brothers you despise, but all of the people in those ads, were liars?

Later that day however, he returned to the floor, and said: “I can’t say that every one of the Koch brothers’ ads are a lie, but I’ll say this … the vast, vast majority of them are.”......

Border Agents Make Up Reasons to Shoot at Motorists.

A scathing report of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) has revealed that agents have adopted a devious technique for justifying shooting at drivers. The findings show that agents have deliberately stepped in front of cars to manufacture an excuse to open fire, or have claimed that moving vehicles were an imminent threat when they weren't.

The agency has attempted to whitewash the findings by omitting the most damaging portions when submitting the report to congressional oversight committees, the LA Times reported.

“It is suspected that in many vehicle shooting cases, the subject driver was attempting to flee from the agents who intentionally put themselves into the exit path of the vehicle, thereby exposing themselves to additional risk and creating justification for the use of deadly force,” the report reads. In some cases, “passengers were struck by agents’ gunfire.”

The report stated that agents have purposely stood in the road in front of people trying to avoid arrest; drivers who posed no direct threat to agents or others.

The report points out that opening fire on a moving vehicle is dangerous to passengers, bystanders, and the agents themselves. It stated: “It should be recognized that a half-ounce (200-grain) bullet is unlikely to stop a 4,000-pound moving vehicle, and if the driver … is disabled by a bullet, the vehicle will become a totally unguided threat.”

Additionally, the agency was ripped for keeping its offending agents anonymous and rarely disciplining them after a shooting. It was said that CBP exhibits a “lack of diligence” in investigating its own wrongdoing.

One of Border Patrol’s recent exploits was the shooting of a 32-year-old mother of five from California. The woman, Valeria Alvarado, was killed when a federal agent unloaded a magazine into her face and torso through her windshield while driving. Officials said that the unnamed agent was “hit” and “carried several hundred yards” on the hood of Alvarado’s car. But several witnesses say the exact opposite — that the woman was moving in reverse, away from a man wearing plain clothes and threatening her with a gun. They say the man opened fire on her as he advanced toward the car.

“From my apartment I could see a car stop in the middle of the street, and a guy coming and walk in front of the car and shooting about 12 times. It was a horrible thing to see,” a female witness named Prince Watson told CBS-8 News. “He just went up, shot her, in plain clothes with no identification, no badge, nothing.” Watson said that she believed the woman was scared of the aggressive behavior of the unidentified man. “Without her even able to say a word — I didn’t hear anything — he just came across and shot, many times,” she explained.




The multiple witness accounts were ignored and the “oncoming vehicle” defense was accepted as truth from the agent whose identity remains concealed.

The independent report recommended that CBP teach its agents to get out of the way instead of standing firm and opening fire on a moving vehicle, and that it should ban shooting at cars unless the occupant was actually trying to kill them through other means. Border Patrol rejected the recommendations to change policy, stating that drug smugglers would purposely try to run over agents if they knew that agents were not supposed to shoot at cars.

The report also delves into the issue of Border Patrol agents shooting up Mexican kids and claiming that they threw stones. One boy was found riddled with 8 bullet holes in the back. The killer CBP agent was given a pass, and remains anonymous and at large.

N.Korea poses 'growing' threat to US: Pentagon

Washington (AFP) - North Korea poses a mounting threat to the United States due to its pursuit of long-range missiles and nuclear weapons, the Pentagon said Tuesday in its latest strategy document.

The North represents "a significant threat to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia and is a growing, direct threat to the United States," said the Quadrennial Defense Review, an update of the military's global strategic outlook.

US forces would continue to collaborate closely with South Korea's military "to deter and defend against North Korean provocations," it said.

The release of the Pentagon's strategic review came as North Korea flexed its military might three times over the past week, firing short-range Scud missiles and rockets into the sea. The test launches were timed to coincide with joint US-South Korean drills that Pyongyang opposes.

The strategy document said the United States will seek to stay ahead of the threat of ballistic missile arsenals in Iran and North Korea, noting plans to bolster the number of ground-based interceptors on US soil from 30 to 44 while investing in better sensors.

The US administration also is deploying a second powerful surveillance radar in Japan to provide early warning of any missile launched by North Korea, it said.

North Korea has pressed ahead with its missile program but experts have voiced skepticism over its claims to have a working inter-continental ballistic missile.




To promote "stability" in the region, US forces will keep up "a robust footprint in Northeast Asia while enhancing our presence in Oceania and Southeast Asia," the review said.

Although Washington's much-touted strategic "rebalance" to the Asia-Pacific region has been criticized as more hype than substance, senior Pentagon officials insisted the review and a new budget proposal released Tuesday showed a commitment to the shift.

US officials cited ship building plans, deployments of marines to Australia and an expansion of joint military training and drills.

"We will continue our contributions to the US rebalance to the Asia-Pacific region, seeking to preserve peace and stability in a region that is increasingly central to US political, economic, and security interests," the review said.

At the same time, the US military would retain an "enduring" presence in the Middle East and the Gulf, where some 35,000 troops are stationed, while also keeping up ties to "stalwart" allies in Europe.

The document was drafted before the current crisis erupted in Ukraine, with pro-Russian forces taking de facto control over the Crimean peninsula.

Interpol Chief says "More guns equal less crime."

WASHINGTON – As the United Nations seeks to push its global anti-gun campaign – through a treaty U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry just signed – the chief of the International Criminal Police Organization, or Interpol, believes open societies can be protected from terrorists by citizens defending themselves with guns, according to a report from Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

The U.N. effort in the U.S. is expected to be dead on arrival at the U.S. Senate, which would have to ratify the treaty. The United States for years has refrained from signing it, until now.

Mindful of the recent terrorist attack at the Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble said that armed citizens in open societies need to be able to defend themselves and others against terrorist attacks.

In the Sept. 21 shopping mall attack, considered to be a “soft target,” some 72 people were killed, including five of the attackers from the Somali Islamist group al-Shabaab. While five of the dead were members of the Kenyan military, 61 were civilians.

Noble said in a report on ABC the attack on the mall marks an “evolution in terrorism.” Instead of targets like the Pentagon and other high-security locations, attackers have begun to focus on sites with little security that attract large numbers of people.

“Societies have to think about how they’re going to approach the problem (of terrorism),” Noble told ABC. “One is to say we want an armed citizenry, you can see the reason for that. Another is to say the enclaves are so secure that in order to get into the soft target you’re going to have to pass through extraordinary security.”

Such enclaves could include places where people generally gather, such as at malls, theaters, supermarkets, town squares and churches. But putting these locations under a high level of security would keep people from going to them.




“Ask yourself,” Noble said. “If that was Colorado, if that was Texas, would those guys have been able to spend hours, days, shooting people randomly? What I’m saying is it makes police around the world question their views on gun control.

“You have to ask yourself, ‘Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving threat of terrorism?’” Noble asked. “This is something that has to be discussed.”

Gun control in the U.S. has been a dominant issue following a series of mass shootings, including the movie theater in Aurora, Colo., where 12 people were killed, and the grade school in Newtown, Conn., where 26 people, including 20 children were killed.

In light of the terrorist threat worldwide, Noble questioned the idea of gun control.

He said that members of law enforcement since the Westgate Mall attack are very alarmed over the prospect of similar attacks and have issued a warning.

Al-Qaida, to which al-Shabaab belongs, recently issued a call for “brothers to strike soft targets, to do it in small groups,” as was the case at Westgate.

Gun Stolen By Dillinger Gang To Be Returned To Auburn,Indiana P.D.

AUBURN, Ind.- Thursday, Special Agent in Charge Robert A. Jones of the Indianapolis Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation will return a very important piece of history that had been stolen over 80 years ago from the city’s Police Department.

On October 14, 1933, members of the John Dillinger gang entered the Auburn Police Department and proceeded to rob the department of bullet proof vests, ammunition, and several firearms, including a .45 caliber Thompson sub-machine gun.

Shortly after the heist, the Thompson was recovered by the Tucson, Arizona Police Department from Dillinger and his gang. The Tucson Police eventually transferred the Thompson to the FBI where it remained for over 45 years until discovered and plans were made to return it to its rightful owners.

The Officers of Auburn Police Department have initiated plans to preserve and display this piece of history for all to enjoy when visiting Auburn and sharing in its diverse, small town history.
Special recognition goes to retired Auburn Police Sergeant Edward McDonald for all of his efforts in attempting to locate and secure the return of the Thompson. Unfortunately, Sgt. McDonald passed away last year before getting the opportunity to see the Thompson returned to the police department he served for so many years.

Indiana moves in the right direction to protect students at school.

INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana House of Representatives approved legislation Monday that would allow guns in school parking lots.

In the 74-24 vote, the House says parents, teachers and other adults should be allowed to carry firearms in their vehicles on school property.

Restrictions in the bill would limit the transportation of guns onto school grounds to glove compartments, trunks or elsewhere out of sight.
Students who participate in shooting clubs or similar organizations will be allowed to bring guns to school grounds with the school's permission.
Indiana law would still prohibit guns from being brought into school buildings. As of now, it is a felony to do so.
The bill now heads back to the State Senate for that chamber's final vote.

How I protected my family against inflation and future economic depression.

Have you ever worried about you or your family's economic future? I have. After the last economic down turn I really started to think about how I would provide for my family if the dollar crashes.

I did a Google search and found that buying precious metals is a solid way to protect your wealth. I admit I am not an investment guru and any investment is risky but it made sense to me.

Did you notice how Silver had peaked at $48.48 back in March 2011? The peak in price was fueled by the uncertainty of the dollar and unstable global markets that rest on the dollar as a reserve currency. Imagine if another economic disaster happened, what would the price per ounce of silver be at? I know one thing, it will be a lot more than the price of silver is right now.

Brief History of Silver: 

Silver has been an invaluable precious metal since it’s first major mining source was discovered around 4000 BC (over 6,000 years ago) in Anatolian (Modern Turkey), making it one of the  earliest metals discovered by ancient man (some other ancient metals were Copper, Iron, Tin, Lead, and Gold).   Silver’s use as money in coin form however, began around 2600 years ago.

Silver has remained in high demand by individuals and nations up to this day, mainly due to it’s natural rarity, visual appeal, and the multitude of uses in various applications.  If we are to look to a stable, proven, and precious item to help us through difficult financial times, silver is certainly it.

Why I bought silver and not gold:

While gold is a great investment, it is cost prohibitive for most to invest in, silver on the other hand can be purchased cheaper and in bigger amounts for much less.

Texas Cops Steal Homeless People's Signs in a Sick Contest

Two cops in West Texas were involved in a two week competition to see who could steal the most signs from homeless people. After two months, their supervisors finally reported it and discipline was handed out.

Derek Hester & Daniel Zoelzer officers from Midland Police Department were suspended for three days without pay for violating the department's professional standards of conduct.   

The Associated Press obtained the findings of the investigation through a public records request, according to NBCDFW.com:


"According to the investigation report, eight signs were found in the trunk of Hester’s patrol car on Nov. 20 and Zoelzer had thrown the about 10 signs he had confiscated into a city trash container after Hester called him to warn him he had been reprimanded by his superior for having the signs.

The two told the internal affairs investigator that they were issuing criminal trespass warnings when they took the signs. But according to the report, no homeless people were issued criminal trespass warnings by either officer in 2013. Most of those warnings in Midland are written, but some are verbal.
The investigation also looked into complaints from within the department that Hester and Zoelzer failed to log into evidence brass knuckles, a small set of scales and two knives they had obtained during other patrol stops. The investigation into the signs began after an officer on patrol with Hester when Hester obtained the brass knuckles sent an email to his sergeant Nov. 18 about Hester saying he wasn’t going to log them in as evidence.
The signs and the brass knuckles were found in Hester’s car during a vehicle inspection two days later."

 Many including advocacy groups are saying the punishment wasn't harsh enough, and the investigation should have been made public sooner than it was.

Cassandra Champion, an attorney in the Odessa office of the Texas Civil Rights Project, said:

 “The fact that they are making sport out of collecting the personal property of homeless individuals could be seen as them targeting these individuals for discriminatory harassment. Simply holding a sign is absolutely a protected part of our free speech.”

Police Chief Price Robinson said the punishment was suitable and the misconduct was an “isolated incident.” After the investigation the officers were reminded to “respect individual rights and human dignity”:

“We want to respect people, no matter who they are — homeless, whatever. That situation’s been dealt with. Those officers understand.”

NY Man Shoots Armed Burglar and Is Charged With Manslaughter

When five people attempt to invade your home, and the first one in the door pulls a pistol and apparently fires a shot, what should you do?

Most sane people would attempt to defend themselves with their own firearms, but Suffolk County, NY prosecutors are now charging a man with manslaughter for doing just that:

A Huntington Station man has been indicted on manslaughter charges for shooting an alleged home burglar who later died, but his attorney says it’s a clear case of self-defense.

Youssef Abdel-Gawad says a man with a gun was attempting to break into his Huntington Station home back in August. His family shared surveillance video of the incident with News 12 Long Island, and in it, the alleged burglar is seen trying to enter a door. The burglar then pulls out a gun, and a flash is seen that appears to be the burglar firing a shot into the home.

Youssef Abdel-Gawad’s attorney says he came to the door with a rifle and returned fire at the burglar and his alleged accomplices, striking one of them. The accomplice later died.

Watch the video at the link here, and you’ll see what appears to be a flash that coincides with the home invader sticking the barrel of his pistol into the home. While their is no audio, a rational person would deduce that the home invader is firing a shot, which was answered by family members that drove off the criminals with their own firearms.

The prosecution is claiming that they couldn’t find a bullet embedded anywhere in the home to match the criminal’s apparent shot. Frankly, it’s irrelevant. As soon as the criminal displayed a weapon as he was attempting to break into the home, he justified the use of deadly force to repel his attack. It does not matter if the firearm fired a shot, or if the gun was even an airsoft gun.

Abdel-Gawad was forced into a situation where he had to defend his family with firearms by the actions of the criminal.

If anyone should be charged with manslaughter, it should be the criminal that displayed the firearm while attempting the home invasion, and no one else.

Molon Labe: Connecticut Gun Group Issues Ultimatum to Government

After gun owners in Connecticut revolted against a gun control law by refusing to register their assault rifles and high capacity magazines, one Second Amendment group is calling on the government to either enforce gun confiscation or repeal the law in full.


Following the Sandy Hook shooting in December 2012, Connecticut passed a law which banned ammunition magazines capable of carrying more than 10 rounds. Residents who had acquired such magazines before the law came into effect were mandated to register them with state police by January 1, 2014. The law also banned assault rifles manufactured after 1994, requiring them to be declared to authorities.

Weeks after the deadline expired, authorities revealed that just 50,016 assault weapons and 38,290 ammunition magazines had been registered, meaning that some 320,000 assault rifles and around 2.4 million high capacity magazines were not declared.

Now the Second Amendment organization Connecticut Carry is calling on authorities to “enforce the tyranny they passed or repeal it entirely.”

“State officials look down the barrel of the laws that they created, and it is very probably that they now tremble as they rethink the extremity of their folly. Connecticut Carry calls on every State official, every Senator, and every Representative, to make the singular decision: Either enforce the laws as they are written and let us fight it out in court, or else repeal the 2013 Gun Ban in its entirety,” states the group’s press release.

In calling the state’s bluff, gun owners are setting the stage for a showdown that could sink the draconian law and set the precedent for the rest of the country.




“If the state does not have the stomach to enforce these laws, then the legislature has until May 7th, 2014 to completely repeal these immoral edicts and let the residents of Connecticut return to their rightfully owned property and former exercise of constitutional rights and practices without any threat of State violence,” adds the press release.

Last month it emerged that Connecticut residents who failed to register their assault weapons or high capacity magazines before the January 1 deadline had received letters from CT State Police ordering them to either make their guns and ammo inoperable, sell them to a licensed dealer, or turn them in at a local police station.

When one woman asked Connecticut State Police Spokesman Lt. Paul Vance if police would engage in door to door gun confiscations during a phone call, Vance labeled her “anti-American.”
“I want to know, if it comes down to it, will the police go to my home if my husband refuses to give up a weapon that was formerly legal and now has been made illegal by a corrupt legislature?” she asked. “Will the police actually go to my home and threaten my family, ’cause I’m scared to death?”

“Ma’am, it sounds like you’re anti-American, it sounds like you’re anti-law. I can’t answer your question,” Lt. Vance answered.

When the woman reminded Vance that he was a public servant, he churlishly shot back, “I’m the master, Ma’am, I’m the master.”

WHEN THEY COME: A Warning to Connecticut Police

By a twist of fate–your file simply happened to be on the top of the stack for no particular reason–you’ll be the first example. A state police SWAT team pull to the curb in front of your home, leap from their van and rush to your front door. Two black-clad men pull back a ram and swing it toward your front door, aiming just above the knob, while the rest of the team waits anxiously, their automatic weapons charged and off safe. Two hope they’ll get the opportunity to shoot. At least one wants to manufacture the opportunity.

You’ve made two major mistakes; they will cost your life and destroy your family:  you live in a blue state where the governor and legislature have no respect for the Constitution and the lives and liberty of citizens, and you were foolish enough to obey the law.

Starting awake from a sound sleep by the explosion of your door being smashed open and the heavy stomping of booted feet, you stumble down the stairs and into the hallway. As you turn toward the sounds, you’re blinded by multiple bright lights and hear many people screaming at you, but their words are unintelligible. You raise your hands to shield your eyes, but you have your cell phone in your right hand. As soon as it comes into view, you’re overwhelmed by a tidal wave of explosive sounds and feel the first bullets rip into your body. There are stars, so many stars, winking and suddenly, everything goes silent and black and your last conscious thought is a feeling of falling.

The SWAT team, surprised when you suddenly appeared only five feet from them, screamed conflicting commands at you. When you raised your hands and one of them saw something dark in your right hand, he jerked back the trigger of his MP5 submachine gun and didn’t let go until the weapon was empty. Seeing him fire, four more did the same. Of the 137 rounds five of the team initially fired, only 18 actually hit you, but it was enough. The rest shredded your home from floor to ceiling and wall to wall.  Six nearby homes were hit, as were four cars. As you lay dying, your heart beating ever more slowly and weakly, you were spared the horror of your wife’s death.

As she descended the stairs, she saw you hit, blood spurting everywhere, falling to the floor, she screamed loud and long and ran down the steps. When she suddenly leapt into the hallway from the staircase, the nearest officer, who had been staring in shock at your bleeding body, and most of all, at the cell phone near your right hand, was startled. One of only two who had not completely emptied his magazine, he emptied it into her. The rest tried, but with one other exception, their guns were empty, and they frantically and impotently jerked their triggers. The other exception managed to fire the remaining six rounds in his weapon. Of the final 13 rounds fired, eleven hit your wife, five in the chest, three in the head. She was dead before her body fell onto yours, the sickening thump of her head on the hardwood floor echoing in the sudden silence and roiling gun smoke.

That was when they heard screaming upstairs, and gathering their courage and slamming fresh magazines into their guns, rushed upstairs, breaking into your 7-year old daughter’s bedroom, to find her lying in a widening pool of blood on her tiny bed. One of the officers tripped over his own feet as he was charging into the house and triggered nearly a full magazine through the ceiling–into her bedroom and through her bed.  One of his fellow officers caught three rounds on his bullet resistant vest, but that will be covered up for years. Your daughter will survive. She’ll be in a medically induced coma for two weeks, and when she awakens, she’ll be informed she’s an orphan, a paraplegic orphan with a single lung…

We have an advantage here at Bearing Arms over most other new media publications when it comes to talking about law enforcement weapons and tactics, in that one of our contributors, Mike McDaniel, is a former SWAT operator and police firearms trainer. He has more than 20 years in law enforcement, and so he knows their strengths… and their weaknesses.

The hypothetical nightmare situation above is—for now—fiction.

It was pulled from the beginning of Mr. McDaniel’s Connecticut: The Coming Storm, which I highly recommend that you set aside time to read today, especially if you are a law enforcement or a family member of a law enforcement officer.

They have much to think over, including where their allegiances lie.

Politicians in Connecticut have grossly overplayed their hand with the state’s so-called “assault weapon” ban and registration act. Being politicians, they seem to feel they are above consequence for their actions, and so it seems as if they will push ahead with plans to attempt to bring the owners of more than 350,000 “undocumented” firearms and neary 2 million standard capacity magazines to heal. There are but 1,120 sworn officers in the Connecticut State Police as of last week. There are though to be between 80,000-100,000 owners of “undocumented” firearms and magazines, along with perhaps hundreds of thousands of sympathetic owners of various other arms.

Mr. McDaniel listened to Connecticut State Police Spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance state that a citizen who stood against ban was “anti-American,” and proclaim that “I am the master.”

Reading between the lines of Vance’s statements, McDaniel thinks, based on his own experience as a law enforcement officer, that the Connecticut State Police are preparing to come for your guns with everything they have:

Anyone listening to Lt. Vance should come away with the understanding that the State Police certainly will send SWAT teams to the homes of citizens, and will, if they deem it necessary, kill them over the number of rounds their magazines are capable of holding and the appearance of their rifles.  They will kill people to please blood-thirsty politicians.

Internet Activist Recovers Deleted Video of Police Assault

After just calling 911, A police car drives by me even though I’m flagging it down on a narrow road, he drives right past me. I approach the police car wait next to it, obviously indicated that I’m waiting to speak to the officer. INSTEAD the officer approaches me and attacks. Charges me with obstruction of governmental administration a misdemeanor. Penalty 1 year jail. The data on the phone was corrupt and shows signs of tampering and erased data.
Someone online was able to recover one corrupt video. Working on the other parts where I’m screaming in pain and it gets much worse.

The dash cam video they clam was not in the police car at the time, and records of the 911 call have been unable to obtain, yet I have one :) Infact any documents have been hard to obtain. My lawyers name is G____.

I just got this phone back friday after much anguish.

USS Somerset commissioned as Flight 93 tribute

A new U.S. Navy ship named to honor 40 passengers and crew killed when their hijacked United Airlines flight crashed as they fought with terrorists during the Sept. 11 attacks was put into service in Philadelphia Saturday.

The USS Somerset is named for the southwestern Pennsylvania county where Flight 93 crashed. With its 684-foot starboard side serving as the backdrop, the amphibious transport dock warship was formally commissioned in front of more than 5,000 spectators at Penn’s Landing.

‘‘What we commemorate is not that war or an attack on America,’’ said Sen. Pat Toomey. ‘‘We commemorate the day America began to fight back.’’

The Somerset is the third ship to be named in honor of 9/11 victims, joining the USS New York and USS Arlington, which honor those killed in the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon during the attacks.

After its crew manned the ship, the Somerset’s commanding officer, Capt. Thomas Dearborn, said, ‘‘Somerset, let’s roll,’’ paying homage to Flight 93 passenger Todd Beamer’s famous rallying cry. Beamer helped lead the passenger rebellion that led to the plane crashing about 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Investigators believe the hijackers planned to target the White House or Capitol.

The Somerset was christened in Avondale, La., at the Huntington Ingalls shipyard in 2012 and delivered to the U.S. Navy in October 2013. It has been docked in Philadelphia for more than a week and was scheduled to depart Tuesday for its home port in San Diego.

For some of the victims’ families in attendance, the ship symbolized a memorial of their loved ones, but didn’t ease the pain of losing them.

‘‘I'd rather have him instead of the ship,’’ Rodrick Thornton, 68, of Radcliff, Ky., said of his cousin LeRoy Homer Jr., the first officer of Flight 93.

Carol Heiderich, whose brother Capt. Jason Dahl was the plane’s pilot, said the ship is a fitting tribute to the passengers and crew.

‘‘It’s such an honor to have our family members remembered in this way,’’ said Heiderich, 59, of Hollister, Calif.

Dave Whelan, a cousin of Flight 93 passenger Richard Guadagno, said the ship embodied the spirit of the country.

‘‘This is us, this is our country,’’ said Whelan, 67, of Jackson, N.J. ‘‘This ship and the people on it will be prepared to do whatever they have to do.’’

‘‘It’s showing honor to our family members, to the heroes of Flight 93,’’ said Whelan’s wife, Carol. ‘‘It shows that we’re not forgetting. It’s been many years now and I'm hoping that 50 years from now when my grandson goes to Shanksville, they still remember.’’

NRA declares government will seize guns

The National Rifle Association claims it has obtained a Justice Department memo that notes President Obama’s gun control initiatives would be ineffective without seizing citizens' assault rifles and requiring a federal gun registration.

It's not clear how the NRA obtained a memo under the name of one of the Justice Department's leading crime researchers, but its authenticity has not neither been challenged by the White House nor Justice Department.

The NRA is using the memo in advertisements, zeroing in on the statement claiming that the success of universal background checks would depend on “requiring gun registration” and that gun buybacks would not work “unless massive and coupled with a ban.”

The memo also says that requiring background checks for gun purchases would not be enough to address gun violence and that it could lead to more unlawful weapons sales among those not able to pass or not willing to subject themselves to a background check.

Obama has publicly assured gun owners that they would be able to keep their existing assault-style weapons and high capacity ammunition under tighter gun control legislation. However the memo, which was kept private until the NRA got hold of the document, states that exempting already possessed assault weapons wouldn't have much impact on gun violence, since so many rifles of this type are already in the hands of Americans.

In televised advertisements across 15 states, the NRA is now citing the nine-page memo as ‘proof’ that the administration “believes that a gun ban will not work without mandatory gun confiscation.” The advertisements have caused heated discussion about the extent that the government wants to take gun control legislation.

“Still think President Obama’s proposals sound reasonable?” the NRA’s chief Washington lobbyist, Chris W. Cox, says in the ad.

But a Justice Department official told the Associated Press that the memo does not represent administration policy and that it was simply just an unfinished review of gun violence research. Publicly, Justice Department and White House officials have so far refused to answer any questions about the document.

It remains unclear if the memo represents the administration’s standpoint or future plans. But in January, White House spokesman Jay Carney promised that Obama’s gun control proposals would not take away any weapons from law-abiding Americans or require a national gun registry.

The NRA’s publication of the memo puts the Justice Department in conflict with the Obama administration’s public statements on gun control, further adding to the already-heated debate on how to address gun violence in the aftermath of the massacre in Newtown, Conn.

While the NRA has used the memo as a warning of the administration’s plans, Joshua Horwitz, executive director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, said the memo is an analysis about gun violence that doesn’t seem to indicate any sort of legislative plans by the government. The memo includes data on the frequency of mass shootings, gun violence, and the effectiveness of current legislation.

“It doesn’t appear to be a serious discussion of gun violence prevention policy, never mind an expression of administration policy,” he told AP.

Common Core: The End of State's Rights?

The tenth amendment which allows states to have the right to choose stances on various issues as long as it doesn't contradict any rights listed in the Constitution, has been used to justify individual states rights to choose their state's educational models.

Since No Child Left Behind was passed, the slow crumbling of the state's right to choose has been growing. This can directly be seen in Common Core standards. Instead of local elected school boards deciding what their students learn, a group of billionaires force them to adopt their standards or face losing federal funding and for most rural schools the prospect of losing any funding is out right scary.

If the Common Core Standards are the Crown of a Tyrannical over throw of states rights, The Race To The Top scheme is the crown jewel for those who seek to control the future of our country's educational standards.

"According to Race to the Top standards almost all schools are failing. Massachusetts is the state with the best test scores, yet according to the new standards 80 percent of its schools are failing. Federal funds are no longer tied to just economic need, but also given to states or districts that win the race to the top. This is no way to level the education playing field". -The Evening Tribune

The Second Amendment has also been targeted by Common Core Standards. Many educators have noted how the spirit and text of some of the amendments has been taught incorrectly. It seems the far left is once again trying to manipulate what is taught to our children in public schools.

New Black Hole Discovered

One of the lowest mass super-massive black holes ever observed in the middle of a galaxy located in the middle of the spiral galaxy NGC 4178, is shown in this image from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey released on October 25, 2012. An analysis of the NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory data, along with infrared data from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope and radio data from the NSF's Very Large Array suggests that the black hole is near the extreme low-mass end of the super-massive black hole range. NGC 4178 is a spiral galaxy located about 55 million light years from Earth.


A team of American and Australian astronomers have discovered a new tiny yet super powerful black hole.
The black hole, named MQ1, was discovered in  a study of the nearby galaxy M83 and is the first super powered black hole to be studied.
The MQ1 is so strong that the astronomers believed the black hole was as large as its strength. In fact, MQ1 is a compact black hole, rather than a supermassive black hole.
"MQ1 is classed as a micro quasar - a black hole surrounded by a bubble of hot gas, which is heated by two jets just outside the black hole, powerfully shooting out energy in opposite directions, acting like cosmic sandblasters pushing out on the surrounding gas," said Roberto Soria, a senior researcher at Curtin University.
